Darrell and Eulene Ramsey

Eulene Adair Ramsey grew up in the small town of Vernon, Alabama, where she attended high school, then attended Freed-Hardeman College and David Lipscomb College. She taught high school typing and general business for four years, before realizing that teaching was not her destiny.

She moved to Abilene, Texas to work with The Christian Chronicle and Christian Woman, during the years when James Walter and Betty Nichols were editors. There she met Darrell Ramsey from Shawnee, Oklahoma, who was at that time a news and weather announcer for KRBC-TV in Abilene. They were married in 1959, then moved to Long Island, New York with the group known as Exodus Bayshore, whose goal was to establish a strong congregation of the Church in that area. Both Eulene and Darrell worked with the Grumman Areospace Corp while preparations were in progress to place a man on the moon. Darrell worked five years on the module that actually landed on the moon, while Eulene worked in Internal Audit Department. Later Grumman transferred them to Houston, Texas.

While there Eulene made another career change — she attended Real Estate school and received her license. She and Darrell were deeply involved in World Bible School. They had planned to go into some type of mission work (probably World Bible School) after they retired. Darrell went with a follow-up group to Ghana in 1988, where their lives were forever changed. Darrell contracted a native virus what kept him in a hospital for almost a year. When it was certain that he could never work again, their dreams died. But another door was opened: J. C. Choate, a long time missionary to India, advertised for office help in Winona, MS. Here was a chance to at least serve behind the scenes of mission work. Darrell and Eulene moved to Winona in 1993 and have worked closely with the Choates since that date.
